Shut the box rules
Rules: Two or more players play the game for a
predetermined number of rounds.
Initially all the numbers are exposed and the first player rolls the two
dice. The player then turns down any combination of numbers, which equals that
total. For example: a roll of 1 and 5 permits a player to turn down the 6, or 1
and 5, or 2 and 4, or 1 and 2 and 3. The player continues to roll the dice
and "shut boxes" until a total is thrown which cannot be used. One die
may be used after a player has turned down the numbers 7, 8, and 9. The total of
the exposed numbers remaining is recorded. The next player starts his turn with
all numbers exposed.
Objective: The ultimate winner is the player
with the lowest score after the agreed number of rounds.
