The new 12W PLL Stereo Transmitter from Veronica incorporates the
crystal stereo coder (Version 3), the Easy-Tune™ PLL3 drive and a
highly stable No-Tune™ variable linear power amp. This model is a
lower power version of the popular Veronica 30W PLL transmitter. Ideal
for licensed FM Stereo Broadcasting in the UK and most other countries
of the world. A transmission
range of up to 9 miles is possible when using this transmitter with
an high gain antenna.
By adjusting a small pre-set control inside the unit the RF power output
level can be set anywhere from 1W to 12W. Any frequency between 87.5 to
108 MHz can be accurately programmed on the internal dip switches and
easily locked up to meet the Radio Authority spec in less than 5 mins.
Pre-emphasis time constants of 50uS, 75uS (USA) or none are easy to
select on the Internal jumpers.
Setting up is a simple task using the LED's on the front panel and
expensive test equipment is NOT required. The mains version of this
transmitter operates on any AC supply from 100V to 240V and can also
operate on 13.8V DC, this makes it truly plug and play and suitable for
use anywhere in the world on virtually any power source. Alternatively a
lower cost 13.8V DC only model is available.
This transmitter along with all our other products comes with a full
twelve month guarantee and our reputation of high reliability. On
delivery the equipment is ready to plug in and use with any suitable 50
ohm antenna system such as our Vertical
5/8 Wave, Single
Dipole or Stacked
Dipole.

This neat package, which includes a
single tuned dipole antenna, is suitable for Licensed RFS 29
broadcasting in New Zealand.
Any frequency between 88.0 to 88.5MHz can be accurately programmed on
the internal dip switches and tuned up to meet the RFS29 spec in less
than 5 mins.
Expensive test equipment is NOT required, set up is a simple task using
the LED's on the front panel. The transmitter operates from the 220 Volt
AC or 13.8V DC supply, this makes it suitable for use on NZ mains or an
automobile power system.

On delivery the package is ready to plug
in and use and comes complete with a 50 ohm single tuned dipole antenna.
The dipole has a built-in transformer to match the 72 ohm balanced
terminal impedance to 50 ohm unbalanced (balun) feeder cable. This will
provide an SWR of 1.5 or less and the correct termination to the
transmitter.
The package INCLUDES 10m of RG58 feeder
coax cable with a PL259 plug fitted and a mounting clamp, this allows
the dipole system to be plugged straight into a transmitter without the
need for any additional connectors or soldering.
Normally
the dipole system clamps in a vertical position as high off the ground
as possible to a mounting pole (1" to 2" Dia) which you need
to provide yourself. This dipole has 0dB gain, so when used in
conjunction with the supplied PLL transmitter, e.i.r.p. cannot exceed
the regulation 300mW.
This transmitter along with all our
other products comes with a full twelve month guarantee and our
reputation of high reliability.

LIMITER COMPRESSORS
The audio level in any sound broadcasting system must be controlled to
prevent over modulation. The current trend is for broadcast stations to
transmit a constant level of audio optimised to 100%. The Veronica
Limiter Compressor is specifically designed to achieve constant 100%
modulation without any over modulation using an FM broadcasting
transmitter. The result is a professional sound on your station output
with all music and speech inputs. This unit is fully enclosed in
aluminum and steel casing measuring 279 x 190 x 89 mm

FM
TRANSMITTER POWER
AND RANGE
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Continuous Reliable Service...... |
|
In theory the range of a transmitted
radio signal is infinite regardless of power used, basically it goes on
and on forever until it encounters an obstruction. More power helps to
penetrate any obstructions. Given this, when engineering and planning a
station it is always better to consider the issues that limit the range.
Range is limited by:
a) How far the transmitting antenna can effectively see. If you stand
where the antenna is mounted and look out with a pair of binoculars,
wherever you can see it is possible to transmit to. This can sometimes
be up to 20, 30 even 40 miles if you are looking out from a mountain
top.
b) Other sources of interference or other stations operating on the same
frequency. For example the antenna may be able to see 20 miles, but if
another station is on the same frequency 20 miles away, it will
block/interfere with the signal.
c) Transmission power. If the antenna can see 20 miles, but say 1 Watt
ERP of power used, it's very likely that about 1 mile of range will
result. This is quite simply because there is not enough power to
propagate the signal 20 miles. If 50 Watt ERP is used, it's very likely
that 20 miles of range will be achieved. This is because 50 Watt ERP is
ample power to propagate a strong signal 20 miles. If 1 Million Watts of
power is used, it is very likely that signal will only propagate just
over 20 miles. This because the range is limited as described in point
a) above.
Assuming the antenna has a clear view, the frequency is clear and an
average quality portable receiver is used, typical transmission power
ver range figures are as follows:
